Soul Clap Records has always been a representation of our very eclectic taste in music, and this next release, a collaboration between Berlin-based young blood LiamLife, and Dallas singer/songwriter Frank Moka has got the future R&B/soul vibes covered. Liam is someone we’ve been following since we were introduced to him at Club Renate when he was only 14 years old (ahhh Berlin), and he continues to impress us as much with his musical skills as his demeanor. This work is an official remix of Moka's politically-charged “Nation Time”, of which the original got props from Erykah Badu. Liam flips his remix for the club and also provides a dub version that satisfies a warm and lush modern house approach.
More from LiamLife in his words:
“When I heard The original version of Nation Time, I immediately reached out to Frank and asked for the stems. We had a good vibe and he was happy to send me the stems of the track. I guess it’s a lesson learned, that if a track really makes you feel something, you shouldn’t be scared to reach out to the artist.
Nation Time is about having your brothers back, in the face of police brutality and Injustice. This is a message which I wanted to bring to the dancefloor. The original cut is straight up gangster funk, which made the remixing process super easy and organic. I feel blessed to release my first official remix on a label which has inspired me since I was 14 years old. Big Thanks to Soul Clap for this dope opportunity!“
